Doctors Talking with Patients/ Patients Talking with Doctors: Improving Communication in Medical Visits

The Temple is pleased to welcome Debra Roter as its Featured Friday guest. She is a Professor in the School of Medicine and the
School of Nursing in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Roter has written widely on the
subject of patient-physician communication. She has developed a method of process analysis applied to audiotapes of medical
encounters which has been widely adopted by researchers, both nationally and internationally. Her studies include basic social
psychology research regarding communication dynamics and interpersonal influence, as well as health education and health
services research.
